4 England Regulates Trade
Mercantilism is the theory that a nation became strong by keeping strict control over its trade. Countries should export more than import. Exports are good sent to markets outside the country Imports are goods brought into the country.

5 Navigation Act British attempt to regulate trade within colonies.
Prevent other countries from trading with colonies.

6 Trade in Rum and Slaves Yankee Trading Ships, traded world wide.
Created the Triangular Trade.

8 Colonial Government Elected Assemblies (legislature, elected officials that serve the people) Upper and Lower Houses The Right to Vote: All Christian men over 21 could vote, women and African Americans could not vote

9 Bill of Rights Glorious Revolution of Parliament removed King James II from the throne and asked William and Mary of Netherlands to rule England. King James (a Scot), was Catholic.

10 Limits on Liberties Bill of Rights did not extend to colonists living in America. Widowed women and single women had more rights than married women. Example, married women could not own business or enter a contract without a husband or fathers approval. African Americans and Native Americans had almost no rights.
