Wilson Forced to Compromise A Just Peace (peace without victors) –Great Britain, France, and Italy insisted on terms that guaranteed their own security and economic concerns first. Self Rule (self determination) –Great Britain, France, Italy and Japan were determined to maintain colonial holdings and expand into new territory taken from the Central powers –Mandates –Eastern Europe Collective Security (mutual assurance of of territorial integrity) –Created League of Nations –US did not join
The Treaty of Versailles Individually, read the text section The Treaty of Versailles and the handout containing some key provisions of the Treaty As a group: 1.Make a list of the losses, restrictions, and burdens that the Treaty inflicts on Germany and make sure each group member writes the list in his/her notes 2.Discuss the following questions a.In what ways do you think the Treaty was different than Germany expected b.What do you think was the German reaction to the treaty?
