4 Course Expectations Please take a few moments to quietly read through the course expectations for this class. Any questions?

5 Parent Signature Page  Please go over the Course Expectations with your parents and have them sign the last page.  Pass the signature page in to me no later than Tuesday, September 10th. (F Period- Wed, 9/11)

6 DAILY EXPECTATIONS & ROUTINES

7 Take out what you need  Make sure you have something to write on and write with on your desk  If you had homework, take it out and put it on the corner of your desk

8 And put away what you don’t  Put away any books, papers, or electronic devices that you do not need for this class.  If they are out, I will take them.  1 st offense: you’ll get it back end of class  2 nd offense: you’ll get it back at the end of the day  3 rd offense: you’ll retrieve it from an administrator

9 Do Now & Agenda  Every day when you arrive, there will be a slide up on the white board.  The slide will contain:  Reminders about upcoming assignments and due dates.  A Do Now question or task that you need to complete  An agenda for the class period

10 Sample Opening Slide -Reminder: Level 2 & 3 Rise of Dictators: due Wednesday (tom) Do Now: Answer the questions below IN WRITING: 1) What actions/events/situations created tensions in the years before WW2? 2) How did nations work to resolve these issues? The League of Nations? 1. Do Now 2. Non-Aggression Pact Worksheet 3. Discussion of Worksheet 4. Layered Curriculum/Battle Project Work Time 5. HW: Layered Curriculum

11 Mandatory Assignment List  Almost every day we will complete an activity that will be logged on your mandatory assignment list.  Each assignment will have an activity number & title that matches up to whatever hand out you’ve been given in class.  If you were absent, you likely missed a mandatory assignment. Take note of it, and make sure to get any of the notes/handouts for that activity.

12 LEAVING CLASS

13 Guidelines for leaving class.  If you need to leave class FOR ANY REASON, you need to sign out and take the pass. NO EXCEPTIONS.  If you need to use the restroom, you can take the pass and go.  If you need to go to your locker, the office, or anywhere else, you need to ask first.

14 You’re lecturing, but I really can’t wait.  If you really need to use the restroom during lecture, you can just go.  Walk around the back of the classroom, sign out, and take the pass.  When you return, walk in quietly and settle back in.  Do NOT disrupt the class.

15 PASSING THINGS IN

16 Class Bins  Class bins are kept on the black table  Homework/ completed class work should be placed in these bins

17 CLASSROOM SUPPLIES

18 Lined Paper  Can be found on the front table and on the resource table in the back.

19 Resource Table  Along the back wall, you will see a rolling cart.  On the cart you will find: lined paper, markers, glue, scissors, pencils, erasers, a pencil sharpener, etc  Use anything you like, but please remember to put things back where you found them so others may use them as well.

20 Extra Copies  Can be found in the unit bin on the table in front of the class info bulletin board.  The bin will have several file folders inside.  Find the folder that matches the title of the activity & take the hand out (or handouts) that you need.

21 Layered Curriculum Materials All layered curriculum materials can be found on the rolling cart next to the resource table.

22 GENERAL SCHOOL INFO

23 School Information  Can be found on the school information board. You will find the class schedule by day, the bell schedule for a regular day and an advisory day, the dress code, and most importantly the lunch schedule for the month.  The class/bell schedule is posted in a few other areas around the room.

24 PERSONAL FOLDERS

25 Personal Folders  Every student gets a folder  Folders are stored in milk crates (sorted by class) on the heater  You can keep whatever you want in your folder- class papers, etc.

26 Personal Folders Everyone take a minute to: 1) Write your name on the tab 2) Place your folder in the proper crate.

27 SCAVENGER HUNT TIME!
