1 Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement
Graphing Data Prezi You will use Prezi as an intro/review on graphing data. As you work through Prezi, you will take notes in your interactive journals. On a separate sheet of paper, graph both requested graphs at the end of Prezi. Use front side for the bar graph and the back for the line graph and turn in at the end of class. SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement Log in to Mrs. Fultz’s Blackboard. Click on 6th Grade Science Click on Barbie Bungee Jumping Click on Copy of graphing data Prezi. As you navigate through Prezi, take notes in your interactive journal. Tell me where we would find the independent variable and the dependent variable. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): Read and take notes on variables. Create appropriate graphs for given information. TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ School: W. W. Lewis Middle School Louisiana State Standard: SI# 5 Identify independent variables, dependent variables , and variables that should be controlled in designing an experiment. (SI-M-A1) SI#11 Construct, use, and interpret appropriate graphical representations to collect, record, and report data. (eg. Tables, charts, circle graphs, bar and line graphs, diagrams, scatter plots, symbols) SI-M-A4 Grade Level/Subject: 6th Special Directions/Considerations: Link to the prezi for this card. Activity Evaluation: Bar and line graphs completed by students. Check for title, axis labels (independent and dependent variable) Prerequisites for students: Graphing should be a review at this point.

2 Scientific Method, graphing, and lab safety
Let’s prove what you’ve learned so far. This quizziz will cover the scientific method, graphing data and lab safety rules. GOOD LUCK! AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement. Open Google Chrome and go to Click join game. Enter the 6 digit code posted on the board, and click proceed. Enter your science name and password you have been assigned. Wait for the game to start, then complete the quiz. GOOD LUCK! This task uses: Learning Objective(s): Review Scientific method, graphing data, and lab safety rules. TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ School: W. W. Lewis Middle School Louisiana State Standard: SI# 2 Identify problems, factors, and questions that must be considered in a scientific investigation. SI # 23 Use relevant safety procedures and equipment to conduct scientific investigations. SI# 11 Construct, Use, and interpret appropriate graphical representations to collect, record, and report data. (eg.. Tables, charts, circle graphs, bar and line graphs, diagrams, scatter plots, symbols) Grade Level/Subject: 6 Special Directions/Considerations: Link to the quiziz: Activity Evaluation: Quiz Prerequisites for students: scientific method, graphing data appropriately, and lab safety rules

3 Barbie Bungee Jumping Data Task
You will use the data you have gathered from the Barbie Bungee jump to create a graph using chartgo.com. This completed graph will be used for task four. MODIFICATION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable Open Chrome and go to Click line chart at the top of the page. Scroll to chart settings: In the title box, type the title of your graph. In the x title box, type the title of your x axis (be sure to include units) In the y title box, type the title of your y axis (be sure to include units) Scroll to Chart data: Click the box of x axis Fill in your x axis data. Type 2, enter, 3, enter…. Make the list vertical. Click on the box of the y axis Fill in your y axis data. Make the list vertical. Click button to create graph and print. Scroll down to generate links and Click the link Highlight and Copy link (you will paste later) Log in to Mrs. Fultz’s blackboard Select 6th grade science, Barbie bungee, select vlog and create new thread to paste link in. Click on another group members thread and tell them: Do they have a title for their graph? What is it? What is the independent variable? What is the dependent variable? What happens when we add a rubber band to Barbie’s Bungee? Using your data, predict at what height will Barbie jump from with 10 rubber bands? This task uses: Learning Objective(s): Create linear graphs from charts. Critique the work of others. TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ School: W. W. Lewis Middle School Louisiana State Standard: SI 11- Construct, use, and interpret appropriate graphical representations to collect, record, and report data. • SI 12 - Use data and information gathered to develop an explanation of experimental results   (SI-M-A4 SI 16- Use evidence to make inferences and predict trends SI 25- Compare and critique scientific investigations Grade Level/Subject: 6th Science Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Blackboard discussion board. Prerequisites for students: scientific method, graphing data, and completion of NMSI Barbie Doll Bungee Jumping Activity.

4 R Tellagami and Barbie. W Open Tellagami app Click create
Students will use the Tellagami App to share the results of the Barbie Bungee Jump activity. You will upload the tellagami video to blackboard and then view and comment on results from students in other classes. REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable Open Tellagami app Click create Customize your character (mood, setting, etc) 10 min. Select Camera Position Camera over your Barbie Bungee printed graph from task 3 and select camera again. Select message Record the results of Barbie’s Bungee jump explaining what the data shows. ( You may add text if you like) Select Share Select save (this will save to the camera roll on the ipad) Log into Mrs. Fultz’s Blackboard, click on science vlog. Create new thread: Title Your group number (ex: 2nd hour, group 7) Type a brief description of your Barbie Bungee experience. Click “Browse my computer”, find your tellagami in the camera roll, click submit. Respond to at least 1 groups tellagami thread from a different class period. Did the graph in your friends tellagami contain all labels? What is the independent and dependent variables? Does this graph look exactly like yours? What could be reasons for the variations in the published data? Do you feel the variations fall within the acceptable range of variations in collected data? Use a comparison of data to justify your answer. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): Collaborate with students of other classes. Create presentation to share the results of their investigation. Analyze data Identify variables. Identify possible variations. TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ School: W. W. Lewis Middle School Louisiana State Standard: • SI 12 - Use data and information gathered to develop an explanation of experimental results   (SI-M-A4 SI 16- Use evidence to make inferences and predict trends SI 25- Compare and critique scientific investigations SI 31- recognize that there is an acceptable range of variation in collected data. SI 33- Evaluate models, identify problems in design, and make recommendations for improvement. Grade Level/Subject: 6th Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Discussion thread- evaluate student responses. Prerequisites for students:
