1 Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement
Structure of Atoms Have paper ready to take notes you may find while watching the video on Atoms. Click on the web site ****As you watch the video, look for a list of five things that one would find in the Structure of Atoms. 3. Play the video and record the five things in the you learned about atoms. 4. Once your list is complete, turn in your answers. This task uses: Describe the structure of atoms and the electrical charge of protons, neutrons, and electrons (PS-M-A2) SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ School: Cypress Cove Louisiana State Standard: GLE: Describe the structure of atoms and the electrical charge of protons, neutrons, and electrons (PS-M-A2). Grade Level/Subject:5th Science Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Teacher Observation Prerequisites for students: Vocabulary for atoms

2 a Structure of Atoms Click on the website: Listen to the atoms video as it identifies each the structure of atoms. ***Keep a list of the definitions of Vocabulary next to you as you listen to the video to help identify each word. After the video, take the test. **Label your test with your first name only. Print your results. This task uses: Describe the structure of atoms and the electrical charge of protons, neutrons, and electrons (PS-M-A2) AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool substitute with functional improvement TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ School: Cypress Cove Louisiana State Standard: GLE: Describe the structure of atoms and the electrical charge of protons, neutrons, and electrons (PS-M-A2). Grade Level/Subject:5th Science Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Test at End of video Prerequisites for students: Vocabulary for atoms

3 Get ready to retell the structure of an atom!
Tree Map Get ready to retell the structure of an atom! Review the structure of an atom with a partner. Visit the website: Label your tree map with your first name only. Click on the tree map to map out the structure of an atom. If you are having difficulties, review the video on atoms. Fill out each part of the tree map to identify or answer questions about the structure of an atom. Print tree map and questions. Turn in you final product. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): Describe the structure of atoms and the electrical charge of protons, neutrons, and electrons (PS-M-A2). MODIFICATION Technology allows for a significant task redesign. TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ School: Cypress Cove Louisiana State Standard: GLE: Describe the structure of atoms and the electrical charge of protons, neutrons, and electrons (PS-M-A2). Grade Level/Subject:5th Science Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Tree Map Prerequisites for students: Vocabulary for atoms

4 Create a Story on the Structure of the Atom
Get ready to write about the structure of an atom! Review the structure of an atom with a partner. Visit the website: Label your tree map with your first name only. Click on the tree map to map out the structure of an atom. If you are having difficulties, review the video on atoms. Fill out each part of the tree map to identify or answer questions about the structure of an atom. Create three Questions you can ask about your tree map and type into your document. Print tree map and questions. Using your tree map, create your rough draft in the app Book Creator. 9. Ask a peer to read and critique work. 10. After peer revision, conference with the teacher. Make any revision and record yourself reading your story. Print your final draft along with your tree map. Take your final product to the third grade classes and have the students listen, read, and discuss your story. Learning Objective(s): . Describe the structure of atoms and the electrical charge of protons, neutrons, and electrons (PS-M-A2). REDEFINITION Technology allows for new tasks, previously inconceivable. TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ School: Cypress Cove Louisiana State Standard: GLE: Describe the structure of atoms and the electrical charge of protons, neutrons, and electrons (PS-M-A2). Grade Level/Subject:5th Science Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Student create test using the questions created with their tree map. Prerequisites for students: Vocabulary for atoms
