2 Journal Article Analysis
Students will read a journal article of their choice on a given topic and answer questions. SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement Go to The National High School JOURNAL OF SCIENCE, Select an article based on the current content we have been discussing in class. You will complete the article analysis worksheet given in class about their chosen article. This task uses: Computer with internet access or iPad. Learning Objective(s): The learner will evaluate a scientific theory based on a current journal article. TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Sam Duffy School: Barbe High School Louisiana State Standard: (SI-H-B1) Grade Level/Subject: HS Biology Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Assessment of the Article Analysis worksheet. Prerequisites for students:

3 Scientific Method Quizlet
A Scientific Method Quizlet Students will move through the review and quiz at the student’s own pace. AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement. 1. Open Quizlet at 2. Go through the flashcards at your own pace to review for the quiz. 3. Click on the test button at the top of the page and answer the questions. 4. When done, check answers to see what you have done. This task uses: Any internet connected device. Learning Objective(s): The learner will use technology when appropriate to enhance laboratory investigations and presentations of findings. TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Sam Duffy / School: Barbe High School Louisiana State Standard: (SI-H-A3) Grade Level/Subject: High School Science Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: students will be informally assessed on their correct answers. Prerequisites for students:

4 Making Movies Trailers
Small groups use iMovie to create a trailer explaining why the chosen organelle is the hero of the cell MODIFICATION Technology allows for significant task redesign. Go to the iMovie app on the iPad Click the + to create a new project. You can choose to make a short (less than three minutes) movie or use the trailer template. If you create a trailer, you will need to chose one of the genres available then hit the create button in the top right corner. On the left of the screen will be your trailer preview and on the right is the outline and storyboard. On the outline, fill in a title and add credits for every group member. Include your class hour. On the storyboard, click on the highlighted areas to change the title headings. Click on the pictures to add videos or photos saved from the internet. When done, save the video in the medium 360 p format and post to the Blackboard discussion board. This task uses: Ipad with iMovie installed Blackboard discussion thread Learning Objective(s): The learner will use technology when appropriate to enhance laboratory investigations and presentations of findings. TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Sam Duffy / School: Barbe High School Louisiana State Standard: (SI-H-A3) Grade Level/Subject: HS Biology Special Directions/Considerations: This activity requires that the teacher has taken bb201 and that the teacher has enrolled students in their Blackboard site and set up the Discussion Board. Activity Evaluation: Prerequisites for students:

5 Critique of Collaboration
Students go to Blackboard page to view and comment on classmates videos. REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable. Log on to my Blackboard page and go to the organelle video discussion page. View at least four trailers created by other groups Comment on at least two. (Please remember the rules of positive critiques, no hurtful or overly negative comments) Go to the survey and vote for a favorite video. This task uses: Blackboard discussion thread Learning Objective(s): The learner will use technology when appropriate to enhance laboratory investigations and presentations of findings. TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Sam Duffy / School: Barbe High School Louisiana State Standard: (SI-H-A3) Grade Level/Subject: HS Biology Special Directions/Considerations: This activity requires that the teacher have taken the BB201 course and that their students be enrolled in the teacher’s Blackboard site. In addition, this card requires that the students’ trailers be uploaded to the Discussion board and that the teacher has created a Survey in Blackboard for students to vote. Activity Evaluation: Prerequisites for students:
