Aligned with the 1999 California ELD Standards Aligned with the 2012 California ELD Standards One test used for two purposes: initial assessment and annual assessment Two separate tests used for two purposes: 1) initial identification and 2) annual summative assessment Paper-pencil tests Paper-pencil tests with potential to transition to computer-based tests The annual assessment window: August- October The summative assessment window: February- March Five grade spans: K-1, 2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 Seven grade spans: K, 1, 2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-10, and 11-12 Assessment Services

7 2017-18 CELDT Overview: Test Purpose
Initial Assessment (IA): to identify new students who are English learners and determine their level of English proficiency Assessment Services

8 Initial Assessment Administered to all newly enrolled students in Grades TK-12 with a language other than English indicated on their Home Language Survey (if never previously taken CELDT) Must be administered within 30 calendar days of enrollment To determine English proficiency for all new students Administered throughout the year Assessment Services

Sites must run the EL Students- Pending Testing report in PowerSchool to determine which students must test Instructions are found on Page 22 of the EL Module Handbook found at hool/office-staff-read-and-learn  Assessment Services

27 Pre-Id Barcode Labels Pre-ID is the process of electronically identifying students through a barcoded label rather than hand-bubbling their demographic information on the Answer Book For , pre-ID barcode labels will be produced for students enrolled by September 11, 2017 Answer Books for students enrolled after September 11, 2017 will need to be hand- grid An communication will be sent to site coordinators (late Sept) when the pre-id labels are available Assessment Services
