11 Tips for Preparing Students for Testing Before Testing Help students approach test in a positive wayExplain the purpose of taking assessmentsPoint out that some test questions may be difficultReassure students that they will be given ample timeBe sure that students understand the directions and how to mark answersEncourage students to attempt all questions. 13 Test Administration Procedures During Testing Make sure that you accurately post start, remaining, and end times, for all sessions.Point out various locations of the “STOP” signs within the testBe very careful to check that students do not skip or overlook any test questions. Remind students to answer every question.Remind students that they must mark only in the spaces provided. Pencil marks in the margins will delay processing of the test materials.
