I can use and locate adverbs in sentences.

 Who can tell me what an adverb does?  What questions could we ask ourselves while reading a sentence to find an adverb?  Who can determine what the adverb is in this sentence? The boy ran to the store quickly.

WHEN? HOW? WHERE?

Adverbss An adverb is a word that tells more about a verb. Adverbs tell how, when, or where an action takes place. Yesterday we ate muffins.

 Liz goes downstairs for a recipe. Where did she go?  She reads the recipe carefully. How did she read?  Liz bakes muffins today. When did she bake?

What does an adverb do? It adds more action or modifies a to a verb.

Many adverbs are made by adding –ly onto the end of an adjective. Kind The boy kindly carried the old lady’s bags. Strange It was strangely quiet in the village.

 HOW did that happen?  WHEN did it happen?  WHERE did it happen?

I can use and locate adverbs in sentences.

 There are three things you must ask yourself while reading a sentence. What are they? Read these sentences and figure it out.  Mother walks downstairs.  She cooks breakfast quickly.  Mother cracks two eggs easily.

WHEN? HOW? WHERE?

Who can tell me what the adverb is in this sentence? Dad quickly leaves the room. Who can determine which adverb I should use in this sentence? Dad ________ cooks the pancakes. (gladly, will)
