1 Or, what to call every word in the English language

2  All words in the English language can be divided into categories of what kind of word they are  Makes it so you could know every type of word there is  Usually distinguished as there being 7-9 types

3  A person, place, thing, or idea.  If it’s physical and you can touch it, or if you can only think it, it’s usually a noun  Falls into common nouns and proper nouns ◦ Common: Student Proper: Janelis ◦ Common: PokémonProper: Pikachu

4  Words that can take the place of a noun, usually taking the place of a person, place or thing.  He, she, it, they, we, me, you  If you’re a pro, you won’t repeat the same noun over and over.

5  Verbs are action words and usually in every sentence  Anything that requires somebody doing something is a verb  Run, think, sit, make, cook, eat, sing, dream

6  Words used to describe something  How does it look?  How does it sound?  How does it smell?  How would you describe this dog?

7  A word that describes a verb, adjective, or other adverb.  Use to tell how, when, where, or to what degree—usually ends in “-ly”  Quickly, strongly, weakly, barely

8  Literally, the easiest one.

9  A word that tells you where something is in relation to something else.  In, toward, under, above, at, past, up, down
