2 Adverbs are words that used to modify verbs, adjectives (including numbers), clauses, sentences, and other adverbs. An adverb indicates manner, time, place, cause, or degree and answers questions such as "how," "when," "where," "how much".

3 For examples:  He came yesterday. (when?)  That is very beautiful. (how beautiful?)  We live here. (where?)

4 Adverb of Time (Frequency) shows when something is done or happens. For examples:  He always comes late.  I never eat sushi.  She occasionally visits her grandparents.  Zakuan often walks to the library.

5 Adverb of Place where something is done or happens. For examples:  He was standing outside.  She lives nearby.

6 Adverb of Manner shows how an action or something is done. For examples:  The girl speaks softly.  Aminah walks quickly.  The old lady works slowly.  That boy reads well.

7 Adverb of Degree answers the question: To what degree? Or how much? For Examples:  He reads much.  The baby shouts too much.  You are almost right.  It’s quite true.

8 Forming adverbs from adjectives. Add –ly to the adjectives.

9 Degrees of Comparison Adverbs have three degree of comparison. They are compared in the same way as adjectives. Add –er or –est at the end of the word (one syllable words).

11 Add ‘more’ and ‘most’ in front of the adverbs which end with -ly.
