EVALUATING RHETORICAL APPEAL We will learn and analyze the use of ETHOS PATHOS AND LOGOS in Rhetorical Appeal in order to prepare our argumentative essays.

Do Now: Watch the video on Rhetorical Appeal. After watching, write three bulleted statements on what you have learned. THINK PAIR SHARE with your table groups. Video complements of Shmoop.

Digging Deeper: Now, you will be presented with a Power Point on rhetorical appeal. Use the template that your teacher has provided to fill out as you view the Power Point. This will help you understand each component of Rhetorical Appeal. Compare your notes with your table group.

Analyzing Commercials for Rhetorical Appeal: First, we will analyze a commercial together and then you will analyze one as group. For independent practice, you will have a choice to analyze a commercial or a print ad that you find on your own. Go to the SHS website and click on the teacher tab, Mrs. Weyhrauch, and find your group number. As a group, work together to complete the questions on the rhetorical appeal of commercials. You will present your commercial and your findings to the class.
