When Can You Come Here We open before school every day at 7:15 AM We stay open after school on M,W,F – until at least 2:30 –Or until first late bus at 2:50 We are open most days during most lunch periods.

How You Can Get Here You must have a pass to come to the library during class time. Ask any teacher either in the cafeteria or in your classes for a pass to the library during lunch. Sign in when you get to the library.

Once You Get Here The library is available to students for quiet study, not as a social center. Watch the following pictures and figure out which is the DO and which is the DON’T

No Cutting Through the Library

Once You Get Here Students who are disruptive will be asked to leave and may be denied library privileges for at least 2 weeks. “Sign-in” in the binder on the front counter Smile!

The Library Has… Thousands of books –May be borrowed for three weeks. Reference books, magazines, and newspapers –May be used in the library but cannot be checked out. Nine Computers

How Do I Borrow Books? In order to borrow books you will need your ID card. If you lose your ID card it will cost $5.00 to print a new one. New cards can be obtained from the library. You should memorize your student ID because you need it to get on the computers. DON’T forget your password!

How Do I Save a Project If you are working in a computer lab or on the computers in the library always save your work to the “P” drive. If you save work at home and want to print in school save your work to a flash drive (the most preferred way) or it to yourself. CD’s and discs are not dependable.

Dewey Decimal System Fiction Non Fiction

Fiction Fiction is a made up story. Fiction is organized alphabetically by the author’s last name. Story Collections say “SC” on the spine, are fiction, and are on the shelf by author’s last name Mysteries & Science Fiction are shelved after all the fiction books.

Nonfiction Nonfiction are books about “real” topics. They are arranged by the Dewey Decimal Number so that books about the same topics are near each other. Biographies are books written about a person. They are on the short shelves in front of the nonfiction and are arranged by the famous person’s last name.

Graphic Novels On shelves right next to the circulation desk If you are a fan, please let me know what titles you would like to see.

Reference Books Can’t be checked out “REF” on the spine All categories 000 to 999 Too big, too tall, etc. Too expensive to lose Used too often Shelved among the nonfiction-not in its own section

How Do I Find Books?

How Do I Find Current Articles?

Remember… “Knowledge is free at the library. Just bring your own container.”
