Information for Students In NON-FICTION, we also have pictures shown with many of the Dewey numbers to help you find the kind of reading materials you want.

Information for Students These are the reading levels for Accelerated Reader. Your library card has the two colors your teacher recommends for you. It is a good habit to check out at least one “Just Right Book” for you. This will help you to win AR points and be in the weekly prize drawing! Accelerated Reader (AR)

Information for Students Another comfy seating area for reading magazines.

Information for Students Students may use the computers during the day, in small groups for up to 30 minutes at a time. You may: Take AR tests, do research, play games, or use programs as directed by your teacher. A student may be sent back to class if you are too disruptive to others, or if you need assistance and the Media Specialist cannot help you at that time. The MS will be most able to help during Open Check Out times, or in the morning when Ms. Stanley is also here.

The Check Out Desk is also where you bring your class Box Tops for Education!

Teachers’ Orientation Here are a few tips and a tour of teacher areas of the media center that are yours to use. Media Center Hours Monday, Wednesday, Friday 7:30 – 3:00 Tuesday & Thursday 7:30 – 4:00 Open checkout 7:30 – 8:30 11:30 – 12:00 1:30 – 3:00 (MWF) 1:30 – 3:45 (Tues/Thurs) Students may come during these hours to check-out books, or at any time, in groups of 4 or less, to work at the tables, or use the computers. 18 Teachers’ Orientation Scheduling in the Media Center Please sign up for a weekly time to come in to check out during that time, there will be a story, or other instructional activity that addresses your Common Core reading standards. The LMS will be happy to collaborate with teachers on information literacy and reading standards. Please allow us a meeting ( a week prior) to plan for these activities.

Teachers’ Orientation In the area behind the check out desk, books are pulled according to your grade level content areas currently being taught. Additionally, there are issues of Mailbox and Teacher’s Helper in this area, available for check out.

Teachers’ Orientation The Teacher Workroom Please don’t take students in the workroom, for liability reasons. The MS is available to help you with the copiers & laminators as needed. Please abide by copyright laws that are posted by the machines. Try to laminate carefully, so as not to waste the film. Feel free to use the die cuts and book binder, but please clean up after use.

Teachers’ Orientation This work station features the Canon full color poster maker. If you would like a 30 minute professional development on using it to make instructional posters for your class, please email Miss Caldwell to schedule a time during your planning or after school.

Teachers’ Orientation The Printers The printers are for community use. Please be aware if your classroom is connected to the library printers, and come to pick up your prints (or send a student). The T644 is for larger black & white jobs. It is faster & less expensive. The C782 should be used for color jobs only, as the cartridges are much more expensive.

Teachers’ Orientation The Printers The T644: for black & white. By the computers. The C782: for color only. By the non-fiction wall.

Teachers’ Orientation The Audio Visual Closet Contains videos, DVDs, and books on audio for your use, as well as overheads, and summer storage for your I- Respond sets. There are also 2 LCD projectors, and 3 document cameras available for checkout. (These may be recalled after 3 days if another colleague needs them.)

Teachers’ Orientation Computers The 20 library computers are available for instructional use by sign-up as well. We also have an additional 2 laptops to make a group of 22.
