4 Nonfiction Section “The branch of literature comprising works of narrative prose dealing with or offering opinions or conjectures upon facts and reality, including biography.” Definition of Nonfiction at Dictionary.com Definition of Nonfiction at Dictionary.com Books in this section are arranged by their Dewey Decimal number. 5 Story Collection Books containing groups of short stories united by a common theme. Books in this section are identified by the letters SC. Books in this section are often arranged by the first three letters of the author’s or editor’s last name, but may be arranged by title. Back to Map

9 Reference Room Materials located in this room can only be checked out by teachers. Students may use Reference Room materials while at school. Back to Map

10 Student Production Room The Student Production Room is open from 8:15 am to 8:45 am and 9:30 am to 4:10 pm. Students may use this room and the supplies in it for school projects. Back to Map

11 Sign-in Station Students visiting the Media Center to work on the computers and/or in the Student Production Room must sign in and out. Back to Map

12 Media Office Mrs. Harpin & Mrs. Goforth’s office. This is where we plan lessons, order new books, and create cool interactive maps. Back to Map

13 News Room WTVM Channel 6 broadcasts the morning news daily from this location. Back to Map

14 Copy Room Mrs. Coates, our friendly copy clerk, can be found here. If a teacher sends you to drop off or pick up copies, this is where you go! Back to Map

15 Class Project Room Teachers can sign up to bring their classes to this room to work on group projects. This room is equipped with a SMART Board, a laptop cart, and a printer. The tables also make this room the perfect spot for group work, Back to Map

16 Circulation Desk To check out a book, follow these steps: 1.Bring your agenda and book to the circ desk. 2.Open your agenda to your student barcode sticker and scan it. 3.Then, scan your book! MAKE SURE SOMEONE IS AT THE DESK BEFORE YOU SCAN ANYTHING! Back to Map

17 Book Return To return your book, follow these steps: 1.Remove any papers from the book. 2.Slide your books into the slot. 3.Make sure there isn’t a jam. Back to Map

18 Dell Computers We have 29 Dell Computers that can be used for SCHOOL work. Board Rule IJNDB Board Rule IJNDB Classes often sign up to use these. They take priority over individual students visiting on passes. Back to Map

19 Mac Computers We have 2 Mac computers for SCHOOL work. Board Rule IJNDB Board Rule IJNDB Macs are on different servers than the Dells. Use the Dells if you aren’t doing an iMovie or Garageband project. Back to Map

20 Special Displays Periodically, we pull books to highlight as part of our special displays. You can definitely check out these books! That’s why we put them on display! Back to Map

21 Media Mystery Each Monday, a new Media Mystery question will appear. You will have until Friday to use the resources provided to answer the question for a chance to win a prize. Winners will be announced on Monday on the morning broadcast and on the Media Center blog. Back to Map
