Celebrations: Birth as a Rite of Passage Learning Question: How is birth celebrated? How could the baby’s birth be celebrated? Neatly write the Learning Question as your title and today’s date

Watch the clip about how Humanists celebrate birth as a rite of passage As you watch think about the similarities and differences between this and a Christian ceremony. How is birth celebrated by other people? Rite of Passage: A celebration to mark a key moment in life, which enables the people who take part in them to feel changed.

As a class, you will design a ceremony to mark the baby’s birth as a rite of passage on the Island. Each person will design a different aspect of the ceremony and explain it’s meaning. This will be marked with an attitude and progress grade. How should we celebrate?
