Can images or words alone describe what God is like ?

Christians believe that it is impossible to sum up God in words or images alone. Instead Christians believe that God gave one last “Word”. This last word was not a written word. It is Jesus. Jesus “speaks” to us by showing us, who God really is. Jesus, as God made flesh, is “The Word of God”. Think of one of the images of God you researched last lesson. Explain why that image on its own isn’t enough to explain what God is like. Explain why Jesus, who is God in human form, is the closest we can get to understanding who God is.

God’s Reveals Himself in the new Testament To describe what God is like as revealed through Jesus. (L3) To explain how Jesus shows us who God wants us to be. (L4) To consider how you far you follow Jesus’ example (L5) ***What english words do you know with “carn-” in them ? Explain what “incarnation” of Jesus” means.

Jesus is ‘God-made-man’: God Incarnate. Through Jesus we can learn - what God is like- what God wants us to be like. How might God want us to behave? Therefore what is God like? What is Jesus doing in this Passage? Reference Mark 6:34 Luke 23:34 John 13:3-6 ****Can you follow Jesus’ example in these ways in your own life? How? Are there limits to how far you can follow Him? Look up the quotes. For each quote, write out what each one tells you about God under each of the 3 headings:

1.Draw a BASIC outline of Jesus in your books 2.Add the title: ‘What is Jesus like?’ to your image 3.Fill in your image with all the words that you would use to describe what Jesus is like.

What type of Person is God asking you to be? Remind yourself of 3 things Jesus did. Say how you could be similar.
