Energy On days when our energy is low, we find everything an effort. Most people are aware of food energy and, in our time, the production of energy to sustain our way of life is affecting the future of our planet.
2
Energy – Recognise WALT: Recognise some of the changes that wind and fire can make. The Effects of Fire We are going to explore the effects of fire through cooking, melting, warming and burning on liquids and solid substances. Observe the changes the fire makes. Use all of your senses to help you think of key words that describe the fire. Where is fire used in the workplace? What words do you associate with ‘fire’?

One called ‘The Effects of Fire’, the other called ‘The Effects of Wind’. How does fire and wind TRANSFORM what it touches? You will present your work at the end of the lesson. Use the words you noted down earlier.

Energy – Relate WALT: Learn about the wonder and power of the Holy Spirit. Easter is a special time for Christians. It is the greatest feast and the church celebrates for forty days. Jesus is risen. Alleluia! A special Easter symbol is a candle. It is a sign of Jesus, the light of the world and the new life he shares. Draw a candle and around it write ‘Jesus is risen! Alleluia!’.

Energy – Relate WALT: Learn about the friends of Jesus being enabled to use their energy for their own good and the good of others. When Jesus told his friends he was leaving them to return to his Father, he promised that the Holy Spirit would come to be their guide and help. Now read John 16: 5 – 7 Key Questions Where were the friends of Jesus when everyone else was celebrating the feast of Pentecost? Why? How does the passage describe what happened to them? What picture language did they use to describe their new energy? Why do you think wind and fore were used to describe the experience? What happened to the crowds?

Pentecost Each year, Christians remember and celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit on the first Pentecost day. Colossians 3: 12-17 Corinthians 12: 4-11 Find some key words which describe the change and transformation Paul writes about to the Colossians. Use these words to draw a word portrait of Jesus. Imagine you are one of the leaders of the Christian family in Colossae. In your own words, tell the community what Paul writes in his letter.
10
Energy – Rejoice WALT: Celebrate change and transformation. As a way to celebrate our knowledge of this topic, copy the following prayer neatly into your book. You may then decorate your page to make it stand out. Father, pour out your Spirit upon your people, and grant us a new vision of your glory, a new experience of your power, a new faithfulness to your Word and a new consecration to your service, that your love may grow among us, and your kingdom come: through Christ our Lord. Amen.
