DEPOALI DIAMONDBACKS 1 st annual Grade Level Attendance Challenge

Attendance Expectations  By law, students must attend school for 90% of the school year.  Our school-wide goal is to reach 97% every school day and continue to have one of the best attendance rates in the district.  Each day, we will run reports by grade to see which grade level has the best attendance. The results will be posted on Main Street.

What’s in it for You? Rewards!  For the Mid-Quarter Pancake Breakfast, on February 28, students will need to meet a 95% daily attendance average, as well as signatures, to attend.  The grade level with the best daily attendance will be called to the reward first and gets extra pancake toppings.  You will also get extra privileges at our next school-wide reward on March 29. This may include extra time at the dance, a better grade, and hat day.

But Wait, There’s More!  Even if you do well for the quarter, 95% attendance rate will continue to be a requirement to attend upcoming rewards for the rest of the year.  Students who have perfect attendance from February 7-March 22 will earn five tickets entered into a drawing for a chance to win a variety of prizes including: gift cards, a four week front of the line passes, early out passes, and more!  You don’t want to miss out!

So How Does This Work?  0 days absent=5 tickets  1 day absent=4 tickets in drawing  2 days=3 tickets  3 days=1 ticket  Remember, this is from February 7 through March 22!

When is it ok to stay home? If you have a fever or a contagious infection. Have your parents call you in to verify with Mrs. Lewis.

RESPONSIBILITY  When absent, you are responsible for completing all make-up work or your absences may be considered “unexcused”.  Please make sure your parents call in or write you a note for any absences.  Attendance is the first step in getting a quality education. If you are here, your teachers are prepared to teach you so you are successful! We would love to see you every day by 7:23.

Will Your Grade Win? What Can You Do to Help? Every day, on time, prepared to be an active participant in your education and……… We’ll See You at the Finish Line!

In Your Advisory Notebooks  Describe one time you stayed home or were tempted to stay home and probably should have come to school.  Describe why you think some students without long-term health issues still have poor attendance.  Share two things you can do to improve your attendance or the attendance of your peers. Share these stories as a group. Share these improvements as a group.
