Vision The NEV development will create sustainable well-designed places where people want to live, work and spend time. It will: Be a high quality, sustainable development with an excellent level of strategic infrastructure that benefits Swindon as a whole; Form a new eastern gateway to Swindon that improves the image of the Town and maximises benefits to the wider economy with improved connectivity to the town centre; Sensitively and positively respond to the existing landscape context, natural and historic assets and the character and identity of the surrounding villages as well as enhancing biodiversity and green infrastructure; Comprise new distinct villages with individual identities and characters linked together by green spaces that integrate with the existing urban area and wider landscape setting; Provide facilities and services required for the new communities and opportunities for existing communities to benefit from the development.

A destination of choice for people to live, with high property values and distinct communities, with good access to facilities and served by excellent infrastructure. A series of linked villages providing homes for all, with high quality education, leisure and community facilities built at the right time to create sustainable development. What does success look like? An improved strategic transport network that facilitates public transport priority and is complemented by a comprehensive network of walking and cycling routes linking new development to destinations of choice.

Where are we now? Outline planning permission granted for 40ha employment at ‘The Hub’ Outline planning application received for 2380 homes and associated facilities north of the A420 at South Marston and Rowborough - Hallam, Hannick and Taylor Wimpey Outline planning applications received for 2600 homes, including 200 to be accessed via Wanborough Road, at Lotmead and Lower Lotmead - Ainscough Planning application expected from Redlands/Barbery Developments Autumn 2015
