English I/IH J. Desrochers Room 253

Rules  Be on time  Be in your seat  Be ready to work  Be respectful  Follow the rules outlined in the Student Code of Conduct

. What Does It Mean?  Be on time: means in the room and in your seat by the ringing of the tardy bell.  Be in your seat: this means you will stay in your seat during class unless otherwise instructed. It also means you stay in your seat until the dismissal bell. We do not line up at the door.

 Be ready to work: this means you read the agenda and have the materials you need for class. We work from bell to bell.  Be respectful: this means we respect the people and property in this room at all times.

Cell Phone Policy  During class, all phones will be on silent and placed inside book bags—out of sight.  Phones should make no sound  We may use them for academic purposes. There is no texting or personal use during these times.

Room 253 Procedures  Seating is assigned  Seating arrangement changes frequently  Homework is due at the beginning of class  All work is turned in on my desk.  Late work may be accepted on a case by case basis. Any work more than 3 days late will not be accepted. Points are deducted from all late work.

253 Procedures…  We will observe the rule  We will remain seated and working bell to bell. If we finish before the bell, you may not leave your seat to line up at the door.  Enter and exit through the inside door only.

Even more procedures  Eating and drinking is never permitted in the classroom. If you cannot put your food away, you will be asked to throw it away.  Personal grooming is not allowed during class. Do not spray cologne, body spray, or use scented lotion in class. Do not use class time to put on make up or fix your hair.

And…  You are responsible for keeping your area clean. Be sure the floor is clear before leaving class.  Do not write on the desks.  Students are not allowed behind the teacher desk. You may use the hand sanitizer at the front of the desk. Please ask before using other items. (stapler, tape, hole punch)

Finally…  There is a pencil sharpener on the window sill. Please raise your hand to use it during class.  We don’t play “basketball” with the trash baskets.
