Placement within Programme o 3 week autumn block 9 th to 27th November 2015 o Paired placement o Orientation into teaching – focus on impact, processes o Base class – visits to other classes o Trainees work under guidance of class teacher and on directed tasks o No grades – feeds into Professional Studies outcomes o Post-placement tutorial with Personal Supervisor o Summer block – 13th June – 8 th July 2016

Overview In agreement with class teacher the suggested timeframe is: o Week 1: tasks 1-4 o Week 2: tasks 5-8 o Week 3: tasks 9-10 (maths) o Identify one profile child for trainee to follow over placement and in specific tasks See pp.9-11 of handbook, which gives guidance to trainee to manage their time

Weekly Meeting & Review o Agree when and where with trainee at start o Private, uninterrupted, appropriate length of time o Questions - how do they know? What evidence? What is the impact on pupils? o Weekly meeting and review form – form sent to tutor. o Trainee to complete first page before meeting. Consider progress, own subject knowledge, impact of training o Weekly review form - focus for discussion and targets

Weekly meeting to include… o Progress of directed tasks (please sign and date) o Plan visits to other classes or key stages o If possible please ensure a visit to observe phonics teaching and EYFS o Help trainees to write weekly evaluation focusing on standard 8.

Standards o Focus is on all 8 standards in discussions and meetings o Early stage of their training – stepping from work experience to trainee teacher role o Professional discussions

Overview of Tasks 10 directed tasks in total – in base class and other classes First 3 tasks are tied to a Teaching and Learning module Trainee to print rough copy and use this to make notes. Must then type up best copy for file Overview has suggested framework but tasks can be done at any time over the placement Class teacher/mentor to sign off tasks and date

Placement Tutor Visit o One visit during November block – to take place w/c 16th November o No observation o Placement tutor will check the tasks undertaken to date and provide feedback on these
