CONTRACEPTIVES

CONTRACEPTION WHAT DOES IT MEANS?

CONTRA MEANS ‘AGAINST’

CONTRACEPTION PREVENTION OF PREGNANCY WITH THE USE OF BIRTH CONTROL METHODS

CONCEPTION REFERS TO THE FERTILIZATION OF AN EGG AND THE BEGINNING OF PREGNANCY

WHY IS CONTRACEPTIVES CONSIDERED VERY IMPORTANT?

TO HELP COUPLES PLAN THEIR FUTURE AND THE APPROXIMATE AGES OF THEIR CHILDREN

TO ALLOW MARRIED COUPLES TO HAVE SEX WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT PREGNANCY

TO HELP CONTROL THE POPULATION

TO ALLOW COUPLES WHO ARE NOT MARRIED TO AVOID UNWANTED PREGNANCY

A MARRIED COUPLE MAY NOT WISH TO HAVE CHILDREN

A COUPLE MAY DECIDE THAT THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE ANOTHER CHILD FOR EMOTIONAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL OR FINANCIAL REASONS.

METHODS OF CONTRACEPTIVES

NATURAL BIRTH CONTROL METHODS CONTRACEPTIVES ARE DIVIDED INTO TWO MAIN GROUPS

ARTIFICAL BIRTH CONTROL METHODS

IS A METHOD OF PREVENTING AN UNWANTED PREGNANCY THAT DOES NOT INVOLVE MEDICAL DEVICES. THERE ARE THREE FORMS OF NATURAL BIRTH CONTROL: NATURAL BIRTH CONTROL METHODS

RHYTHM METHOD FOR A FEW DAYS OF THE MENSTRUAL CYCLE A WOMAN IS NOT FERTILE SO A COUPLE CAN HAVE SEX DURING THOSE DAYS. BUT THEY NEED TO WORK OUT THE SAFE DAYS VERY CAREFULLY. THE WOMAN WILL TO TAKE HER TEMPERATURE REGULARLY AND THIS HAS TO BE DONE EVERY MONTH AS THE CYCLES DIFFERENT EVER TIME

THE MAN REMOVES HIS PENIS FROM THE WOMAN JUST BEFORE EJACULATION (COMING). SO THAT NONE OF HIS SPERM ENTERS THE WOMAN’S VAGINA. THE WITHDRAWAL METHOD

NOT HAVING SEX ABSTINENCE.

ONLY THE ABSTINACE IS 100% SAFE THE OTHER TWO ARE NOT SAFE. WHICH ONES WERE SAFE AND WHICH WAS NOT?

ARTIFICIAL BIRTH CONTROL – IS ANY METHOD OF PREVENTING UNWANTED PREGNANCY BY THE USE OF MEDICAL DEVICES. THERE ARE VARIOUS METHODS OF ARTIFICIAL BIRTH CONTROL A FEW EXAMPLES ARE:

THIS ALTERS THE BALANCE OF HORMONES IN THE WOMAN’S BODY. THE LONG-TERM EFFECTS OF TAKING THE PILL ARE NOT KNOWN. IT MUST BE TAKEN REGULARLY AND FORGETTING TO TAKE THE PILL CAN MAKE HAVING SEX UNSAFE THE PILL.

A BARRIER METHOD. THERE ARE TWO OF THESE. THE WOMAN MAY USE A OR THE MAN A CONDOM. THIS IS A RUBBER BARRIER THAT STOPS THE SPERM FROM ENTERING THE WOMB (DIAPHRAGM) OR THE VAGINA (CONDOM). THESE ARE FAIRLY SAGE BUT THERE IS A DANGER OF THEM BREAKING AND SO FAILING. DIAPHRAGM CONDOMS(MALE & FEMALE )

CONDOMS(MALES & FEMALES)

DIAPHRAGM

THIS IS A SMALL COIL OR WIRE WITH A PIECE OF COPPER ATTACHED. IT IS PLACED INSIDE THE WOMAN’S WOMB AND IS BELIEVED TO WORK BY PREVENTING THE EGG FROM. THE IUD (AN INTER-UTERINE DEVICE).

IUD ATTACHING ITSELF TO THE UTERUS WALL. IT IS FAIRLY SAFE BUT CAN CAUSE HEAVY PERIODS OR CRAMPS
