Mrs. Roman’s Middle School Survival Guide

Homework Doing your homework in middle school is very important. You may have homework every night. Even though you may have a study hall, it will not be enough time to get everything done.

How do I keep up with my homework It is important to write ALL assignments in your agenda Every Day! If you know you have a test coming up, study a little bit each night instead of waiting until the night before the test.

How do I stay organized Keep your locker neat and clean. Keep your locker neat and clean. How do I get help in my classes Step 1- always ask your teacher if you don’t understand something. They are happy to help. Step 2- Ask Mrs. Roman if there is extra help available You maybe able to get help during your study hall You maybe able to get help during your study hall Help is always available during Blue Devil Block Help is always available during Blue Devil Block Math tutoring is available on Tuesday and Thursdays after school from 3:15-4:45. Math tutoring is available on Tuesday and Thursdays after school from 3:15-4:45. Do Not wait until your grade is so low that you cannot bring it up. There is never shame in asking for help.

Do I have enough time to get to my locker? Students have 4 minutes between classes in which they can go to their locker. You may not always have time to go to your locker between classes. It is okay to take more than one book with you. Don’t waste your time talking during class change. You will be marked late every time you come into class past the late bell. If you need to use the restroom, quickly get to your next class and ask the teacher if you may go. It is better to ask than show up late.

How Do I Get to My Bus? In the Middle School, everyone is dismissed at the same time. When the bell rings, you will go to your locker and get your books, coat, etc. that you are taking home. TIP: It is a good idea to have your agenda out so you know what books to put in your book bag. TIP: It is a good idea to put books and homework directly into your book bag throughout the day. You will have less to worry about at the end of the day. Teachers will make sure that you do not miss your bus. This is not the time to talk to your friends….the bus driver is waiting! Your bus will be in the same parking spot every day.

If you follow these simple rules and ask questions when you don’t understand, you will successfully survive Middle School.
