When does it happen? The whole route is due to open in June 2010 The first section (Morecambe to Settle) is already in place, ready for signing

The Way of the Roses Who is organising it? The route has been planned by a partnership of organisations, led by Sustrans Includes Lancaster City Council Lancashire County Council, Craven District Council, North Yorkshire County Council, Forest of Bowland AONB, Yorkshire Dales National Park…..

The Way of the Roses What difference will it make? Recent study of four long distance cycle routes in the NE region showed they had a total of over 500,000 users in 2006, nearly half of these on the well established C2C route These users spent a total of £9.6m whilst cycling, £3.6m on the C2C alone An average group spends £200-£300 The larger the group: the more money they spend

The Way of the Roses Who to expect? Men outnumber women by 2:1 Most popular age is 30-59yrs, peak Majority ride in small groups, but a significant number of solo riders Day riders: 72% of spend is on food and drink Staying visitors spend 48% on accommodation, 50% on food and drink
