Presentation transcript:

Some of the things we have been doing this year Sarah Price Chief Officer Haringey CCG

Haringey Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) An NHS organisation, led by Haringey GPs – started in April 2013 A membership organisation made up of all GP practices in Haringey Led by a governing body - includes GPs, nurses, an A&E doctor and two ‘lay’ members Replaced Haringey Primary Care Trust Responsible for planning, paying for and monitoring health services for people who live in Haringey (commissioning) The services that we commission include hospital services, community services (e.g. district nursing) and mental health services

What we spend our money on

What we hear from people in Haringey People want to be at home and independent for as long as possible People want it to be easy to make an appointment with their GP and see them at a convenient time People’s experience of care can be very fragmented which is very frustrating for them People want to be supported more in the community, near their homes, in a variety of ways People need more help to know what services are out there and how and when to access them People don’t want to be isolated or lonely or feel like they are a burden The health service needs to focus more on prevention

Some of the things we are doing Joining up services with the local authority and co- ordinating care: –e.g. Development of locality teams Programmes to help people to feel more confident to manage their health conditions –e.g. self-management programmes for people with diabetes Commissioning more services in the community –e.g. community gynaecology service Improving access to primary care –e.g. Saturday openings; improved GP appointment systems; GP provision in Tottenham Hale. Focusing on access to support and recovery for people with mental health needs –e.g. Housing support for mental health service users
