What does our day look like?  8:15-8:50 Arrival and Morning Routine  9:00-10:00 Daily 5  10:00-11:00 Math  11:00-12:00 Specials  12:10-12:40 Lunch  12:50-1:50 Social Studies/ Science  2:00-2:30 Recess  2:40-3:40 Phonics  3:45-4:15 Pack up & Dismissal

Miss Hardy’s Contract  What will Miss Hardy do? :  Have a welcoming and safe classroom  Respect all students  Encourage all students  Help students  Teach the appropriate content  Admit when she is wrong  Be the best teacher she can be

Student’s Contract  What will you do? :  Respect Miss Hardy  Come to class prepared to learn  Follow procedures and rules  Ask for help  Complete your work  Try your best every day

Procedures How do we do things in Miss Hardy’s room?  Entering the classroom: You should enter the class ready and excited to learn, when you get into the classroom it is fine to briefly greet friends and Miss Hardy but then you must start on the morning routine that is on the board.  “Give me 5” : When I ask you to “give me 5” this means one of your hands goes in the air, your eyes will be on me, all talking stops, and you are waiting patiently and quietly for further instructions.  Sharpening pencils : Pencils should be sharpened before we begin our daily 5 routine. You may sharpen your pencils any time during arrival and the morning routine. You will not get up to sharpen your pencil when I am talking, and if you need to ask for another pencil put 2 fingers in the air and I will hand you one.  Turning in homework : All homework should be turned into the homework basket on the right of Miss Hardy’s desk when you arrive in the classroom and have unpacked your book bag.  Bathroom time : When you need to use the bathroom put your pinky finger high in the air. Once you are acknowledged (most likely with a head nod or thumbs up) you may take the bathroom pass and proceed to the bathroom quickly and quietly (only 2 students may go to the bathroom at any given time).

 Keep all body parts to yourself  Listen when others are talking  Respect yourself and others  Learn and play safely

Consequences What happens when we don’t follow the rules? *Don’t forget to fill out your behavior chart at the back of your agenda everyday*  1 st infraction  Warning  2 nd infraction  Card will be moved to light green  3 rd infraction  Note to Miss Hardy on why you are having trouble following the rules, and ways that you can fix this problem. (Card will be moved to yellow )  4 th infraction  Letter home (Card will be moved to red )  5 th infraction  Conference with parent/guardian, teacher, and student

Rewards What happens when we’re being extra awesome?  What does being awesome look like ?: helping others, sharing, being a greater listener, getting a 100% on test, working hard, being kind, participating  If you see a class mate being extra amazing fill out an awesome student slip. Then put this slip in our Whooo’s been good jar. At the end of the week a student’s name will be drawn from the jar and they will get a chance to take a picture with Orlando the awesome owl (all other students will be able to take their awesome student slip home).  Receive a sticker for your sticker chart (when your sticker chart is full you get to go to the treasure box or choose your favorite book from the class library to keep).  Happy gram sent home from Miss Hardy  Being proud of yourself  Extra computer or reading time

 I know that I have a class full of wonderful, smart students and I expect each of you to do great things. You can achieve anything that you put your mind to, and I am here to help your every step of the way, so lets make this a great year!
