The ACADEMIC LEARNING CENTER

 Enables motivated students to catch up on credits with a lot of DAILY HARD WORK. 4  Attendance in school EVERY DAY. You are only allowed 4 absences this semester!  Finish a class in 9 to 10 school days without waiting for teacher assignments!  Independently working in a quiet study hall- like environment.

 Nine days of attendance is required for each class completed to be graded!!  One at a time, until 1 st Portfolio is done! CRP every 2 weeks  Complete 1 CRP every 2 weeks or 2 classes every 4 weeks!! - Failing to finish a portfolio in 2 weeks, your lead teacher MAY lower your grade by one letter for each week it is late > B to C.  There is no Grace Period on Portfolios for Super-Seniors!!

not IF YOU ARE ABSENT YOU HAVE TO MAKE IT UP! Can not sign off a class unless you make up all absences!! Coupon Attendance Bonus is given for students with 100% attendance. (You will get a Coupon~ check with your 1 st Period teacher). session, In - seat hours may be made up after the AM session, between sessions, and after the PM session in an ALC classroom with permission. Tardiness– 5 Tardies will lower your grade by 5%. Ten tardies per course will lower your grade by 10%.

 Every 91 class  Every 9 days in ALC Program should = 1 class If the following is completed: 1. Academic 1. Academic Work Completed ~ Portfolio is completed 2. Attendance 2. Attendance ~ Each class requires 27 hrs of in – seat attendance. Lead Teacher signs off the class 3. Lead Teacher signs off the class.

 Each Student should be working on1- 2 Portfolios or Classes at a time. This would equal to classes a semester! ◦ Odyssey, ROP, Work Experience, Tutoring, or School Service are EXTRA Credit! second assigned class ◦ You are to work on the second assigned class while other is being graded! working on an Academic class ◦ If you are working on an “Art” class, you need to be working on an Academic class at the same time! ◦ It is your job to clear your OBLIGATIONS so you can check out two to three books and be assigned your 2 nd !

 Any student who does not complete 7 classes each semester in the ALC Program should expect to be moved to another program as they are not being successful Commitment to Integrity  (Commitment to Integrity on ALC contract) Student work needs to be your own!  Any student who copies another for any class may get a referral to the office, lose all credit and redo the class, and be put on academic probation. Further copying will result in dismissal!

 THIS IS NOT A GROUP PROJECT ! If a teacher wants you to help another student they will ask you.  YOU ARE HERE FOR 3 HOURS TO WORK!  SET A GOAL ON YOUR PLANNER or PHONE FOR each Period! CHECK OFF THE ASSIGNMENTS YOU FINISH EACH PERIOD!! Coupon  SET A GOAL ON YOUR PLANNER or PHONE FOR each Period! CHECK OFF THE ASSIGNMENTS YOU FINISH EACH PERIOD!! You will get a Coupon~ (check with your Homeroom teacher). HOMEROOM (Lead) TEACHER  Hand in your assignments to your HOMEROOM (Lead) TEACHER!  You are expected to work on 3 hours of Homework DAILY!! Really? Yep, that’s right!

 Be on time, ready to learn, and if you are late, DON’T DISRUPT BY TALKING!!  Come prepared to class with notebook, textbooks, portfolios (packets), and writing implements.  Bring Planners every day!  Students do not write, highlight, scribble or draw in textbooks, otherwise you may have an obligation! No chargers plugged into the WALL!!  Students need to take responsibility for personal items such as cell phones. Keep your items with you. There will be no searches for the item. No chargers plugged into the WALL!!  Do not prevent  Do not prevent others from studying and learning!

 Dress code is enforced: NO HOODS IN CLASSROOM! NO UNDERGARMENTS SHOWING!  Teachers may LIMIT Students cell phone use in class per Corona – Norco Unified School District ◦ Ask permission to take a call out of class ◦ Emergency is Earthquake, Fire, Hostage Situation.. ◦ Non Emergency is Dental, Doctor, Arranging for car ride home, texting a friend…..  MUSIC PRIVILEGES: If your’re caught up with your CRPs~ BRING YOUR MUSIC PLAYER, but only 1 headphone! I don’t want to hear your music!

 Restroom Privileges – 10/15 minutes rule. First 10 min & last 15 min, no restroom allowed.  3 rd & 5 th Period Restroom usage: ◦ 3 rd Period: Use the restroom before 10:10 am ◦ 5 th Period: Use the restroom after 1:40 pm

 Students are limited using cell phone in class per Corona – Norco Unified School District (unless directed by teacher!) Don’t abuse them!  1 st Offense  1 st Offense – Teacher keeps cell phone. The phone returned to owner at the end of third period.  2 nd Offense  2 nd Offense – Security will escort the cell phone down to the office.  3 rd Offense  3 rd Offense – The administration will deal with the cell phone usage issue.

NO  Absolutely NO Foods, Drinks in the Lab.  Water bottle only and placed on the floor not near the keyboard. No Gatorade, Juice It Up, Monster, Red Bull ….  NO distraction to the Learning Environment  NO putting on make up, combing hair … It’s a distraction to the Learning Environment
