PROTEIN The main function of protein is to build and repair tissues (muscle tissue)

PROTEIN Protein can be a source of energy but should be used as a last resort Only 10% of our diet should come from protein.

PROTEIN Women require about 45 grams a day.

MEN REQUIRE ABOUT 57 GRAMS A DAY.

PROTEIN CONTAINS 4 CALORIES PER GRAM

TYPES OF PROTEIN There are 2 types of protein. Complete and Incomplete

COMPLETE PROTEINS Complete proteins contain ample amounts of essential amino acids. Complete proteins come from animal meat and animal by products, and some grains and beans such as soy and quinoa (keenwah)

INCOMPLETE PROTEINS Incomplete proteins do not have enough of one or more of the essential amino acids. Incomplete proteins come from plant or vegetable sources. Incomplete proteins must be combined with each other to create complete proteins.
