3 What is Protein? Protein is a compound found in certain foods that your body needs to grow and stay strong. Proteins are the “building blocks” for your muscles, skin, hair and nails. 4 Where does Protein come from? Protein is found in animal products, such as meat, poultry, fish, milk, dairy products, and eggs. Protein can also come from plants.
