Welcome Back to School! Team Scorpio

Your teachers are here for you! MR. CONOLLY MR. DIGILIO MRS. FULLER MR. O’BOYLE MISS WUERSTLE MR. NOVAK MRS. PURCELL Additional Educators on the Team: Mrs. D’Aprile, Mrs. Detweiler, Mrs. Brady, Ms. Carolyn Goodfrey

NORTH MIDDLE SCHOOL You are part of an excellent team combined of 7 th and 8 th graders. Our expectations of you will be high, both academically and behaviorally. The harder you work at these things, the more we will be able to add the extras, like outdoor activities and other team building events.

Supplies BE PREPARED! Each day you are to bring a pencil, textbook, agenda, free-reading book, and notebook. You will need a small set of colored pencils. You must carry your SSR Book to every class!

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT SSR... Studies have shown that students who read daily improve their standardized test scores, increase their bank of vocabulary words, and are better writers. Please keep the following in mind:

1. Choose a book that interests you. Do not grab a “last- minute” novel so you can avoid being unprepared. Use 11 th periods to choose books – Mrs. Sterling is a great resource for finding something you will truly enjoy reading. 2. During 11 th period, your job is to complete homework, see any teachers you may need in order to get caught up with your work, and attend chorus, band, student council, sports meetings/practice, etc. If you are caught up with all of the above, your 11 th period should be spent with your SSR book! Homeroom is for quiet study, completion of homework, and sustained silent reading. Each homeroom teacher has additional rules and procedures, so stay tuned!

Special Events/Highlights Team Builder Fridays Spring Play Pep Rallies Athletics Reading Olympics AM Hockey Academic Challenge Band/Chorus Assemblies/all-school activities Friday ClubsDances Field Day Ski Club Field Trips » AND MORE!!!

CLASS PROCEDURES: 1.Arrive to class on time. If you stay late with a teacher, be sure to have a pass. 2.Be seated and write homework in your agenda if it is already posted in the classroom. 3.When the teacher stands before you or calls your attention to begin, the room must be silent. 4.Participate and ask questions when necessary. Your question might help others in the room. 5.DO YOUR HOMEWORK – homework can make boost your final grade. Homework provides practice and helps students succeed in mastering what is taught in the classroom. Do your own homework – copying another student’s homework is cheating and you will be issued a zero.

LOCKERS Do not share your locker or your combination with others. Limit locker visits to AM Homeroom, Lunchtime, PM Homeroom. If you are still having difficulty opening your locker, see your homeroom teacher.

REMEMBER YOUR SCORPIO “ PRIDE ” AT ALL TIMES! P = preparation R = respect I = involvement D = dedication E = enthusiasm

Let ’ s work together to have a great school year! SHOOT FOR THE STARS, TEAM SCORPIO!
