2 Welcome to the Sixth Grade!
Starting middle school can be a little overwhelming and there are many new experiences awaiting you! Your teachers understand this and will do all they can to make your transition to the middle school as pleasant as possible! We look forward to helping you achieve your personal best at ACE!

3 A day in the life of a sixth-grader!
Start time Students should arrive before 7:45 am to be on time. You have 5 minutes to change classes or you will be marked tardy. Attendance is very important to academic success! 7:45 am

4 Dress Code Our dress code is strictly enforced. Students who are not in dress code can be sent to the office with a referral. Belts must be worn if the pants have belt loops. Clothing cannot be too small or too large. Pants must be worn at the waist – no sagging. No hoodies!

5 A day in the life of a sixth-grader!
Homeroom Homeroom is after first period each day. This is where you will receive school-wide information and character education.

6 A day in the life of a sixth-grader!
Enrichments P.E., Band, Chorus, Art, Business Education, Technology, Math Enrichment and Reading Enrichment etc. You will take three enrichments each semester.

7 A day in the life of a sixth- grader!
Academics Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies You are responsible for bringing your materials to class each day. Homework is assigned nightly – be sure to stay on top of it! Late work is not accepted.

8 A day in the life of a sixth-grader!
Lunch Our lunch time is scheduled during our 5th period class. You will be in the large dining hall and you can choose where you would like to sit.

9 A day in the life of a sixth-grader!
Dismissal Students are dismissed to their ride or afterschool by their 7th period teacher and must stay in the classroom until they are called.

10 School Supplies Be sure you have the following each day when you come to class: Paper Pencil Notebooks Textbooks Homework (Remember: this is a big part of your grade!)

11 School Rules All school rules can be found in the agenda.
All school rules and classroom rules will be continually reviewed and taught. School and classroom rules are strictly enforced.

12 Expectations of Sixth Graders
Your sixth grade teachers will expect you to: Follow all school and classroom rules. Be in dress code each day. Be respectful to your teachers and peers. Come to each class prepared. Complete all classwork and homework assignments on time. Enjoy the 6th grade!

13 Expectations of Sixth Grade Parents
Stay in contact with your child’s teacher through phone calls, s, and conferences. Be aware and informed of what your child is doing at school – view agendas nightly, use Parent Portal and D2L, contact teachers through . Be a part of your child’s learning – volunteer at the school, come to conferences and events. Support your child’s teachers – we want what’s best for them too! Remember that even though your child is gaining more responsibilities, it is still important for you to be active in his or her success!
