IEEE SAMIEEE Training What is SAMI EEE the next generation? l The next generation of SAMI EEE is a web based ad- hoc query tool that provides IEEE volunteers access to IEEE membership data.

IEEE SAMIEEE Training How is it different than the traditional SAMI EEE ? l No more FoxPro l No more annual Whites l No more monthly Pinks to download and unzip l No more remembering to process all your pinks before running reports or labels l You don’t have to maintain the entire database on your PC

IEEE SAMIEEE Training Who can access the new SAMI EEE ? l 2 Types of access l Automatic l Designated l Automatic access is granted to current: l Region Directors, Society Officers, Section Officers, Chapter Chairs and Student Branch Chairs & Counselors. l A complete listing can be found at: l l Designated access: determined by officer of organizational unit. l Example: samieee recipient l Login with IEEE Web Account Username and Password

IEEE SAMIEEE Training Explain the basic process l The IEEE membership database is located in Piscataway, NJ. l A snapshot or copy of that database has been made available for your use. l You don’t have to maintain the entire database on your PC. l Connect to the IEEE site, formulate a question or query and retrieve only the information that you need. l The result of your query can be printed or downloaded directly into an Excel spreadsheet or saved as a comma separated value file. l The query can be saved – this is called a reports to be run again at a later time. l Reports can be scheduled to run automatically – weekly, monthly

IEEE SAMIEEE Training User Limitation l Maximum concurrent users = 50 l A concurrent user limitation has been established to ensure optimal system performance

IEEE SAMIEEE Training Expectations l A simple query could take 5-10 minutes over a DSL, cable or “T” connection l A complex query could take much longer. l Queries will not complete if more than 60 minutes has transpired. l Queries can be scheduled to run: l Automatically at certain intervals - weekly/monthly l One time only at a specified date and time

IEEE SAMIEEE Training Data Integrity l Data is taken directly from IEEE Membership Database. l Much of this data is no longer updated by staff. l COA, Renewal, New Member Web Applications upload the data automatically reducing possibility of data entry error. l 80% of members provide addresses l Of those, 80% - 85% are accurate
