Climbing the Tepozeteco I’m very happy with the results of this 1st JUMP camp, it was full of challenges and we accomplished all of them, since the 1st one that was the Tepozteco, were we had to climb a gigantic mountain but it was a really great experience, because we all arrived together, and accomplished our first challenge successfully. ~ Maria

Temezcal In pre-hispanic times, the indigenous people of Mexico and other regions in the Americas used the temezcal hut as part of a purification ceremony, which supposedly led to the rebirth of the ceremony’s participants o.. “We also got a new Mayan name, so we weren’t Carmina, Luz, Diego and Maria, we were Ho-Kan, La Kan Kiea, Ukk Ik and Kat-Lajun. We were free to be ourselves and it was one of the most important parts of our camp”. ~Maria Fears and limits were pushed and literally conquered, not to mention the fact that we were cleaned in both body and mind. This experience, together with the morning’s climb, set the tone for the rest of the week.

Cooperative Sports: Yoga This experience was most of our group’s first contact with yoga, and it was enjoyable for all.

Art Workshop We could get rid of our masks, and I could share with the ones in my workshop the explanation about masks, that’s why I wanted to make them, and they really got the idea, and made the workshop successful. They also could be creative and made really good designs in the soap, with the totems, in our workshop. ~Maria Gallery

Dance Workshop I’m really proud of all of my students, because we achieved all those objectives in a very short time. During this workshop, we had a lot of fun, but we continued learning, and I am very glad about that at the end, every member of this group was wanting to present to the rest of the people the choreography that we’d created. ~Luz

Camp Songs While at the camp, we sang a variety of songs as graces and after our midday meal and dinner. The songs we learned were: “Yonder” “The Circle Game” “Irish Blessing” “Alleluia” “If I Can Help Somebody” “Hungarian Folk Song” “Hine Ma Tov” “El Himno de Alegria” “Promises” “A Plea for One World” “Moon Song”

JUMP Time 1 The Cave 2 The Community Triangle and Important Terms 3 The One Who Walks Away From Omelas 4 Issue Presentation 5 Issue Selection 6/7 Planning I think that our goals with the JUMP time were more than accomplish, and the main goal with this JUMP time was to form our project and to form the idea that we got from the camp of H/S. ~Diego

Reflection In general, I think that everything went very well. There were some things that happened that we didn’t plan, but we just kept going, and at the end, we realized that we achieved al our goals, and that everybody had changed in a very short time. ~Luz

Reflection We chose our project or problem to attack, and I am really glad, because it was the one that I had proposed, and the environmental care is something that really concerns me and I think that everybody, because the earth is our house and we need to do something for her, and we are going to have very bad problems if we doesn’t do anything. Well we also started our plan and got really good ideas. I feel like we really raised consciousness in everyone, and also in me, because I thought that like I had already done some of the activities and that there wouldn’t be anything new but I was so confused, I learned a lot and I feel very good about it. ~Maria

Reflection The idea of be different than the others and start doing something for our world and focusing in our community, now is in their hearts. Watching all of this makes me so happy and is so satisfying and nice for me and also I think for all the people that inspirited me to create this idea, and pass these whole concepts to the society in Mexico. ~Diego
