My w.w.w Reflection Noor Salem 6e

Day 1 Today we got to travel around many cities by swimming, cycling, rowing, and/or running. Our job was to - with all our classmates- pick either running, swimming, cycling, or rowing, or all of them. We had to pick countries we liked to travel and had good distances. You could also write reports. I... chose cycling and rowing, and my goals were to cycle and row for 10 minutes, but for both I did about 15-20 minutes. The countries my class chose were lots, but they were sensible and had great distances for traveling. I also wrote two reports and earned a thousand air miles for my team. Air miles helped you travel without running, cycling... My favorite part of today was when we had to travel (cycle, row... whatever you had to do). It included math work and writing/ typing, but I never knew I would actually enjoy it. If I could go back in time, I would change the way I acted when I found out another class was in the lead, but I knew at the end that it was just for fun. I would also work harder and do more reports in the end than walk around and look at what others are doing. In this activity I was: A communicator: I worked with others to accomplish what my class/ team had in mind, and shared my ideas. A thinker: My class and I thought about what countries would be good to travel to, and thought about who was good at what activity. Knowledgeable: I researched about different countries for the report and learned new facts. Balanced: I got to exercise and got my mind and body healthier. Open-minded: I listened to and respected others’ ideas. Principled: My class/ team and I knew how to split the jobs to make them equal and fair.

Today we used the day for working on our posters and writing about a natural disaster with our poster groups after Mr. Hounsel (A teacher for IB Business) talked to us about himself when he experienced a tsunami in 2004 in Sri Lanka. He talked to us about how he first went to Sri Lanka for a holiday, how he saw the tsunami, and how he got injured. We were relieved, very shocked, and surprised by his talk. After we worked on the natural disaster project, we had lunch in Georgetown University. We did a scavenger hunt in groups, then went into a room with a student in the University who talked to us about flags and how flags can be useful and what they represent. If I could go back to this day, what I would do differently is I would not worry about getting the job (the posters and the Movie on the natural disaster) done and just enjoy it and have fun ! Today I was: A Communicator: I worked with my group and finished what we had to. Knowledgeable: In Georgetown University, when we listened to the student talking about flags, I learned a lot of new things about the topic (e.g. How flags can be used) Open-minded: I listened to my group’s ideas when they suggested things for the posters. Principled: When we started the movie, we split the jobs equally and split the jobs so that everyone likes their job, and can complete it. Day 3

Today we presented our natural disaster videos, but before that, we had time to work on it for one whole hour. When we worked on it, my group all used their effort and time for the movie. When we were about to present, I was very nervous, but then later (after sharing our movie) I was relaxed from all the nice comments I heard. Next after sharing our videos we we had to pick an activity from the choices given. In every activity there is a problem, and we had to solve it. My group chose drama ! In drama, we made puppets out of tin foil and sticks- as well as feathers, and made our own scripts. But we had to have a hero, side kick, villain... and we had to use specific names that were given. I worked on the script writing by my self, while the rest of my team mates worked on the puppet making. When we presented, we did not follow the script at all, we just started making stuff up as we went, because the script was confusing. Our story was very weird, but the activity was very fun. For lunch, we went to Georgetown again. First, we stood in a circle and some people had to guess everyone’s name. Next, we went up to make our own flags that represented our selves. Then we played a game with one of the teachers in Georgetown called zoom zap and pop :) We had to pretend like we had something in our hands that we have to move around the circle for one minute. Finally we had lunch and left. If I could come back in time and change something about today, I would change my handwriting on the script and I would make the script neater. Today I was Knowledgeable: I learned a new game that I never knew or heard about. Communicator: I worked with others in the play. Principled: I made my team mates choose the characters they wanted to be. Open- minded: I listened to my team mates’ suggestions and thoughts. Thinker: In Georgetown I thought about where/ which side I should zoom zap or pop. Day 4

Day 5 Today was an extremely fun day! First 6E went to the robotic center ! we learned about the human body and how robots are useful now a days. Then we saw a video, and saw pictures in 3D !! It was really cool. When we went back to school, I saw rooms filled with people face painting, coloring, painting, playing... we played a board game, we played on the laptops, we walked and talked. Next we had pizza, a drink, and ice cream ! I took only two slices of pizza because I was full, and I took one drink and ice cream which I did not get to finish. This week was Amazing !! I wish It was for two weeks though because it was way too fun, that we did not feel the days pass by. I hope next year Week without walls is even funner... If I could go back in time I would change my thoughts because at first I thought the robotic center was gonna be boring but it turned out to be very interesting. Today I was: Principled: When I heard that 6A won the world challenge I cheered them on because I knew they worked hard for it and they deserved it. & for some reason, I was glad my class lost.
