What are the four levels of the Egyptian Society? Pharaohs Nobles Scribes and Craftspeople Farmers, Servants, and Slaves

Who ruled Egypt? Pharaohs were the leaders of Egypt. They were seen as gods. Egyptians believed that Egypt belonged to the gods. Pharaohs were blamed if crops did not grow or if disease struck. In charge of making trade profitable to prevent wars.

What is a Noble? People from rich and powerful families Key government officials and priests. Upper class

Scribes and Craftspeople Scribes wrote Craftspeople made and produced goods. Seen as middle class. Farmers, Servants, and Slaves Seen as lower class Made up 80% of the population. Built projects for Pharaohs.

Trade Traded with Nubia (south of Egypt)-gold, ivory, slaves, and stone Sumerian designs found in Egyptian art. Egypt pottery reflects styles from Nubia Punt- on the Red Sea- incense and myrrh used to make perfume and medicine Syria-wood

Gods Sun god- Re, or Amon-re God of underworld- Osiris Goddess of magic-Isis Sky god & god of Pharaoh-Horus
