TYPES OF MAPS POLITICAL: SHOWS COUNTRIES, STATES, AND CITIES. PHYSICAL MAP: SHOWS THE EARTHS NATURAL FEATURES. TRANSPORTATION MAP: SHOWS HOW YOU CAN TRAVEL ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER. HISTORICAL MAP: SHOWS INFORMATION ABOUT PAST PLACES AND EVENTS.

TYPES OF MAPS CONTINUED LANDFORM MAP: SHOWS THE SHAPE OF THE EARTHS LANDFORMS AND BODIES OF WATER.

MAP VOCABULARY MAP TITLE: TELLS YOU WHAT THE MAP IS ABOUT. SYMBOLS: A PICTURE OR A COLOR THAT STANDS FOR A REAL PLACE. MAP KEY /LEGEND: TELLS YOU WHAT THE SYMBOLS MEAN. LABELS: WORDS THAT TELL NAMES OF CITIES, RIVERS, STATES, AND COUNTRIES.

COORDINATES: WHERE A LINE OF LONGITUDE AND LATITUDE MEET. DATE LINE: LOCATED AT 180 DEGREES LONGITUDE. DIRECTLY OPPOSITE THE PRIME MERIDIAN.
