“Half a sphere” Northern and Southern hemispheres are separated by the Equator. Eastern and Western hemispheres are separated by the Prime Meridian. Northern Equator Southern Prime Meridian Eastern Western

4 Latitude Lines are called “parallels” Lines run east to west
Measures north and south Equator is 0 degrees

5 Longitude Lines are called “meridians” Lines run north to south
Measures east and west Prime Meridian is 0 degrees Runs through Greenwich, England
