Four 4’s  We are going to try and find every number from 1 to 20 using only four 4’s – all of them have to be used each time – and any operation.

Teamwork  Work with your team to find as many solutions as you can for the numbers.  Come up to the board to share solutions whenever you find them.  Put on the board as many as solutions your team can think of for each number.  Come and put your solution on the board whenever your team thinks of one.

Growth Mindset  Having a growth mindset for mathematics is important. We can all learn math to any level we choose. Self belief is really important.

LUNCH!!! You may leave all of your materials in the room. I will lock the door during lunch. Please pack all of your stuff up before you leave for lunch today because you are going to be moving when you get back. When you return from lunch we will be doing another sort, so please follow the directions on the screen when you re-enter the classroom.

Interpreting Graphs Sort  Pick up a slip of paper as you enter the classroom.  On the slip of paper is part of a graph.  Find the students in the class who have the other pieces of the same graph.  When you find all of the students whose graph parts belong with yours, sit down together as a team.
