Agenda: Bell-ringer Objective Set up notebooks Objective: Students will personalize their Interactive Notebooks by dedicating the first page to an All About Me poem. **Reminder** You need your cell phone policy signed by tomorrow

15 You are going to personalize your Science Interactive Notebooks by dedicating the first page to an All About Me poem using the following: Besides the poem, requirements for the page: Minimum of three colors used Three pictures drawn

16 NEXT… 1.Begin to number pages beginning with your All About Me page being, page number 1. 2.Number the lower, outer corners of each page. Fronts and backs of pages should be numbered. Number pages 1-50. 3.Pages 2-5 are for the Table of Contents. Set up your pages according to the following:

Agenda: Bell-ringer Objective Policies & procedures Objective: Students will continue to learn about setting up their Interactive Notebooks. Students will learn the safety rules of the classroom. **Reminder: All papers for this class should be turned in today.

21 How I grade the Science Interactive Notebooks: You will open your Science Interactive Notebook to the most recent assignment. Sticker = completed assignment No sticker = incomplete During test time, you will stack your notebooks on my desk and I will begin grading your notebooks with a completion grade. For example, if you are to have 8 different assignments done during the Plant Unit, then I will count back the last 8 upper, left side corners of your notebooks. You should have 8/8 stickers – if you only have 7 stickers then you will get a 7/8 or an 88%.

22 Reading Activity Scientific Method Science Safety Rules The Bikini Bottom gang has been learning safety rules during science class. Read the paragraphs below to find the broken safety rules and underline each one. How many can you find? You have 10 minutes! GO!

25 Rule 1: Always wear safety goggles when working with chemicals.

26 Rule 2: Never reach across a flame.

27 Rule 3: Notify your teacher if any chemical gets on your skin/clothing, or if you get injured.

28 Rule 4: Never look directly into a test tube.

29 Rule 5: Always point a test tube away from yourself and others.

30 Rule 6: Never smell a chemical directly from the container. “Waft” it.

31 Rule 7: Never taste a chemical unless you’re given permission.

32 Rule 8: Always clean up your work area and put back the materials where you found them.

33 Rule 9: Always read and follow all directions exactly as they are written.

34 Rule 10: Never mix chemicals (or perform tests) without your teacher’s permission.

35 Rule 11: Never run or push someone else in the lab.

36 Rule 12: Keep lids on bottles and containers when not in use.

37 Rule 13: Never use broken or chipped glassware.

38 Rule 14: Keep your work area clean and keep all materials (clothing, hair, papers, etc.) away.

39 Rule 15: Wash you hands before/after each experiment.
