Emergency Procedures

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES The safety of our employees is of our upmost importance. Please review the following slides for important information on emergency procedures.

TORNADO & SEVERE THUNDERSTORM  If you hear the City of Sturgis Emergency Siren, please notify the administrative assistant at the front desk.  An announcement will be made via the intercom system to proceed to the severe weather shelter as indicated on the emergency maps throughout the building. o For GT Independence this is located on the lower level in the conference room or surrounding hall area. o For MAWC, the Conference Room o For St. Joe Co-op, the kitchenette area  An air horn or whistle may also be used. Three short bursts indicate a tornado or severe thunderstorm.

FIRE OR BOMB THREAT  If you observe a fire, immediately call 911 and contact the administrative assistant at the front desk.  An announcement will be made via the intercom system to proceed to the evacuation area as indicated on the emergency maps throughout the building. o For GT Independence this is located in the back of the employee parking lot o For MAWC this the NW parking lot across the street o For the Co-op this is the airport parking lot, North, across the street  An air horn or whistle may also be used. One long sound indicates a fire or bomb threat.

WORKPLACE VIOLENCE  Staff is encouraged, but not required, to notify their supervisor and Human Resources of Personal Orders of Protection or any other circumstance that could potentially result in workplace violence. No adverse actions will be taken against the employee as a result of this information.  Please click below to view the video recommended by our local law enforcement.
