Welcome to the Thompson High School Library LIBRARY STAFF: Mrs. Catchings, Library Aide Mrs. Gray, Librarian Mr. Stone, Librarian

Library Hours 7:00 - 3:10 The Library is open (7:00-7:40 ) most mornings before school for study hall. Morning Study Hall: Only 2 students per table - talking is NOT allowed Study Hall is for students who need to check out books, study, read, work on homework, or use a computer for school assignments only After school use – until 3:10

7 th period Study Hall Study Hall will be Mon, Wed, and Fri during 7 th period. We will have 25 passes for the computer use We will have 25 passes for Media Center use Must sign up for a pass in the library before the end of 4 th period. Once you are in the library for 7 th period, you must stay until the end of the period.

Library Supply Cart We have the following supplies for sale: – index cards – composition notebooks/notebook paper – pens/pencils/erasers – envelopes/folders – poster board (white/color) – etc……

Library Rules You must have a LIBRARY PASS when coming from a class You must sign in/out at the Circulation Desk No cell phones, food, or drinks No cutting through between 200 and 300 hallways Use quiet voices only Clean up after yourself: put chairs back, pick up paper, etc. Return books and materials Computers are for assignments only- NO games Conserve paper when printing

Reminders…  To use the Copier – 25 cents per page to make a copy  Log off of the computer before leaving  Use the Print Preview feature before printing  Save your work before logging off of the computer  Leave book bags at a table before using a computer

Reminders… Printing is for school work/projects only Need to Print a PowerPoint? Choose HANDOUTS before printing Computers are for school work/projects only All computers have SmartSynch on them. It allows us to see what everyone is doing.

Reminders…  Students may check out 2 books at a time  Books are checked out for 2 weeks  Students will be charged for lost or damaged books checked out  Seniors will not be allowed to graduate if they owe the library a book

Facts about the Library The library has over 15,000 books in the collection The library subscribes to a variety of magazines and newspapers There are 27 computers Scanner Photocopier – 25 cents per copy 3 hole punch Electric stapler

Students may check out 2 books Books may be renewed without having the book Books are checked out for two weeks A date due card will be placed in the pocket in the back of the book as a reminder to return the book All books must have a date due card before leaving the library

Overdue Fines: Thompson High does not charge overdue fines Students may not check out books if they have overdue books Students who lose or damage library materials will be expected to pay the replacement cost Reference Books may be checked out for overnight use only All books for research are reserved on a cart for classes

Overdue Notices We will send out overdue notices at least once a month This is a reminder to return books Make every effort to take care of the issue as soon as possible so we can clear your record

Types of Books Fiction Nonfiction Biography Reference Professional Understand that we have several Young Adult Titles that are for students from 9 th – 12 th grade. Those titles for older students may contain language and situations appropriate for that age range. If you feel a book has language or situations too mature for you, please return the book and check out something else. We will be glad to find something that works for you.
