Complete Sentences O A sentence is a group of words that express a complete thought and begins with a capital letter.

Sentence Fragments O A sentence fragment does not express a complete thought. O Example: captain of the team.

Declarative Sentences O A declarative sentence makes a statement and ends with a period. O Example: I enjoy reading mystery stories.

Interrogative Sentences O An interrogative sentence asks a question and ends with a question mark. O Example: Have you heard of R.L. Stine?

Imperative Sentences O An imperative sentence gives a command or makes a request. O It ends with a period. O Example: Please get the flashlight out of the closet. O Example: Tie your shoes.

Exclamatory Sentences O An exclamatory sentence expresses strong feeling and ends with an exclamation point. O Example: What a scary story that was!
