6 Complete Sentence Subject Predicate Must form a complete thought
Starts with a capital letter and ends with a punctuation mark.

7 Declarative Sentence Purpose Example Makes a statement
It ends with a period ( . ) We learned about the Inuit Indian tribe last week. Neil Armstrong went to Purdue University.

8 Interrogative Sentence
Purpose Examples Asks a question It ends with a question mark (?) Is the Great Basin east or west of the Continental Divide? Who do you think wins the space race?

9 Imperative Sentence Purpose Examples Gives a command
It ends with a period ( . ) Pay attention to the lesson. You need to move over there.

10 Exclamatory Sentence Purpose Examples Shows strong feelings
It ends with an exclamation mark ( ! ) Wow, that lightning strike was close! What an amazing catch!
