2 Declarative Statement that tells something; it ends with a period.
Specially trained dogs help people with disabilities. I would like a hamburger for dinner.

3 interrogative Asks a question; it ends with a question mark
What kinds of tricks can your dog do? What time are we leaving for our trip?

4 Imperative Gives a command or makes a request; ends with a period. “You” is the understood subject. Read this newspaper article about the local can food drive. Sharpen your pencil.

5 Exclamatory Shows strong feeling; it ends with an exclamation mark.
What a beautiful day it is! Oh, that’s fantastic!

6 Interjection A word or group of words that expresses strong feeling.
It is not a complete sentence; it’s usually followed by an exclamation mark. Hooray! Wow! Super!
