Project Information Listen to the project description. You can print a copy of the project information if you want a copy to take with you. PLAY Recording READ ScriptREAD Script

Vacation time has finally arrived! Over the next few weeks, you and a partner will work together to plan and organize your dream vacation. Each traveler will have a maximum of $3000 to spend. This $3000 is for all your expenses… including your spending money.

You can choose to travel to anywhere in the world you would like to go except for places that have one specific activity in mind. For example… you cannot choose to go to a large theme park like Disney or Six Flags, but a place like Orlando, FL or Paris, France. A trip to a theme park can be part of your trip, but not the only activity.

Throughout the project, you will complete many different activities and prepare an assortment of documents to organize and prepare your trip. Go through the prepared MS PowerPoint presentation on your own to find out what the specific expectations for the project are. Back to PowerPoint

PROJECT PLANNING 1. Choose your own groups of two. 2. Agree on a vacation destination. 3. Brainstorm ideas (see below): What time of year will you travel? How long will the vacation be? What will you do/see while you’re there? 4. Get your idea approved by your teacher. Print brainstorming worksheet. I need to be turned in!

QUESTIONNAIRE/INTERVIEW This questionnaire will be ed to three travel agents in the area. The questions you write must help you learn what things are important when planning a vacation (think cost, lodging, activities, etc…) A minimum of 6 questions are required. must be approved before sending.

Some possible interview question ideas are attached to the link below. This is an example… you can borrow ideas, but you need to create your own. Click on me for an example.

RESEARCH The Internet allows you to access an unlimited number of resources to find information for your trip. Use the Internet to research the availability and cost of airline tickets, lodging, dining, entertainment, etc. Click on me for useful websites.

INFORMATIONAL FLYER This flyer will be created in MS Publisher. (…or another program you like… talk to your teacher) It is designed to advertise and promote your planned vacation to the community. The flyer must include where and when you will be traveling, flight information, planned activities, and other selling points.

Don’t forget to include the cost for the trip! You’re flyer must be colorful, neat, and include a minimum of one graphic/photo. Remember… you need to provide contact information so the community knows how to sign up for the trip. Click on me for an example.

ITINERARY An itinerary will help you to schedule and organize pre-planned activities for the duration of your vacation. It must be in chronological order and include dates, times, activities, locations, transportation, and any required items that need to be brought along. Use MS Excel to complete this document. Click on me for an example.

ACTIVITIES LIST List each major activity that you will do on your trip. Provide a brief description of each activity (location, cost, etc…). Include a minimum of one graphic per activity and plan for at least one activity per day. Use MS Word or MS Excel to complete.

BUDGET Remember… you only have $3000! Create a budget spreadsheet in MS Excel. This cost sheet must include all trip expenses: transportation costs, lodging costs, meat cost per day, activity and entertainment costs, and other miscellaneous costs. Turn in a copy of your budget with formulas and one without formulas. Click on me for an example.

LETTER OF INTRODUCTION Write a letter to your teacher that briefly describes/summarizes your vacation and the activities it includes. In the letter, describe why you choose this particular destination for your trip, what you look forward to most, and what part of this project you like most/like least. Use the format provided in the example. Click on me for an example.

REFERENCE/BIBLIOGRAPHY Create an appropriate reference page for your research that lists all sources. Sources will include: travel agent questionnaire/interview, websites, any books/tour information, etc… Make sure to use the appropriate format when siting sources.

TABLE OF CONTENTS Whether you choose to do an oral presentation or an MS PowerPoint presentation, you will be required to turn in a packet of your work. At the front of the packet, a table of contents is required to tell the reader where to find specific information. Create a table in MS Word to complete. Click on me for an example.
