POLICIES, PROCEDURES, & OFFICE REMINDERS  School Numbers Office Classroom – ext 8020 (leave a message)  Visitors Everyone one must sign in at the office & receive a visitor’s badge which must be visibly worn A completed & approved DPS background check must be on file in the office before you will be allowed to volunteer at school or chaperone field trips

 Attendance Absent if arriving after 9:30 Send excuse note within 3 days for office approval All absences are UNEXCUSED until note is approved Work missed that is to be graded will be completed in the school setting – recess, lunch detention, or after school Instructional Recovery (parent will be notified) POLICIES, PROCEDURES, & OFFICE REMINDERS

 Drop off/Pick up Back parking lot is ONLY place for drop off & pick up School must have a written note approved by admin before student’s transportation can be changed Students may not be sent to office early to wait Students are tardy after 7:50 & must be signed in by a parent Please refrain from escorting your child to class POLICIES, PROCEDURES, & OFFICE REMINDERS

 CUB Binder Contain agenda, homework, and other school communication Agendas are the best form of communication  Discipline Discipline chart is used in the classroom Clipboard will be used for specials classes Notes will be written in agendas, if needed Poor behavior may result in a note, phone call, and/or office referral  Homework Sent home Friday and all work is due the following week on Friday CLASSROOM POLICIES & PROCEDURES

 Lunch Our lunch time is 12:40-1:10 Money can be sent to school with student or paid online - go to the elementary website and there is a link to If you would like to provide cupcakes for your child’s birthday, they will be passed out at the end of the day (2:15). CLASSROOM POLICIES & PROCEDURES

Our grading policy is stated in the Student/Parent Handbook. It is as follows: A = B = C = D = F = 69 and below GRADING POLICY

 Progress Reports Will go home every 3 weeks following the 1 st 9 weeks or as needed Must be signed and returned Request a conference if you have any concerns  Online Grades – TxConnect Gradebook Be an advocate for your child & check grades often  Reports Cards Go home 4 times a year at the end of every 9 weeks Will receive 2 copies, 1 must be signed and returned, the other is to be kept for your records. GRADING POLICY

GRADES  Types of Grades Academic Measures student understanding of academic objectives Shall be based on academic performance only Conduct Related Measures student behaviors Time on task, work completion, organization, refusal to complete work, failure to use strategies, etc.

 Conduct Behaviors will be directly aligned to the conduct grade, not the academic achievement grade Students with chronic concerns will be referred to RTI Students who consistently turn in late work will have comments to reflect that on their report card Only one overall conduct grade will be received GRADES

CONDUCT GRADES  Daily conduct will be reflected on the report card in homeroom. At the end of each 9 weeks, the number of discipline signatures will be totaled for each student. Every student will begin the 9 weeks with an S. Excellent = 0-1 discipline notes in agenda Satisfactory = 2-6 discipline notes in agenda Needs Improvement = 7-9 discipline notes in agenda Unsatisfactory = 10+ discipline notes in agenda  If a student is sent to the office for a severe offense, such as fighting, they will receive an automatic N for the 9 weeks  Any student who is suspended (ISS/OSS) will receive an automatic U for the 9 weeks.

MINIMUM NUMBER OF GRADES  ELAR Reading, writing, grammar - 12 grades; with a weight of 2 Spelling - 8 spelling test grades; with a weight of 1  Math 10 equally weighted  Science/Social Studies 10 equally weighted in each subject

RE-TEACH STANDARDS  50% Failure Re-teach & retest when 50% or more fail; no initial grade recorded  20% Failure Re-teach & retest for a grade UP TO 80%  For example - a 100 will now receive an 80 and a 90 will receive a 72  Less than 20% Failure Re-teach & retest for a grade UP TO 70%  For example - a 100 will now receive a 70 All students will receive additional instruction prior to assessments. A new form of assessment will be used for the re-test.

PRINCIPAL’S GRADING PLAN  Grading Grades are agreed upon by the grade level & aligned with grade level determined grading opportunities All grades will be identified with main ideas that represent the TEKS addressed Grades will be entered in the grade book NLT 3 days following the due date; all grades, with the exception of ELAR, will carry equal weight Each subject will have end of unit assessments.

 Categories Tests Classwork – special projects*, spelling, writing/grammar, reading, homework* Teacher assigned Assigned at teacher’s discretion Assignments may be counted again NOT used for the purpose of identifying students in need of intervention PRINCIPAL’S GRADING PLAN
