 THE MOVEMENT TO END SLAVERY  William Lloyd Garrison  WAS A WHITE ABOLITIIONIST WHO PUBLISHED A ANTISLAVERY NEWPAPER CALLED THE LIBERATOR  IT CALLED FOR EMANCIPATION – FREEING OF SLAVES WITH NO PAYMENT TO THEIR OWNERS.

 A Slave who escaped slavery and became a prominent abolitionist  He teamed up with William L Garrison, speaking out against slavery  He formed his own abolitionist newspaper - The North Star

 Rural / Field Slaves’ lives were more difficult because their duties were more labor intensive  Urban slaves’ lives were better because they were better clothed, fed and taken care of.  They also worked more skilled jobs – Black smiths, Artisans, Factory Jobs.

 A slave who thought he was chosen by God to lead his people to freedom.  He led a revolt or a rebellion, in which he and his followers killed almost 60 whites.  His group was run down and killed. Also Turner was captured and hung.  This led to a growing paranoia of Southerners towards slaves and abolitionist
