DO NOW How did the Agricultural Revolution change the lifestyle of the 18th century in Britain?

Do Now: Are you a “product” of the Industrial Revolution? What time did you get out of bed this morning? Who or what woke you up? Did you eat breakfast? Was an appliance used in anyway to facilitate your breakfast? Explain. How far from school do you live? How did you get to school? When do you need to leave the house to be at school on time? How is the school day at WHRHS structured? Explain What will you do at the end of the school day? Where will you go.. What will you do.. When will that activity end? What time do you plan to eat dinner? With whom will you eat dinner? Where do you plan to eat dinner? Will an appliance be used in any way to facilitate your dinner? What will you do after eating dinner this evening? Will you use any electronic devices after dinner? What time will you go to bed?

Industrial Revolution Technology, new sources of energy & materials enabled owners to change the ways work was done Coal: used to develop the steam engine Pumped water out of mines James Watt made improvements in 1794 Becomes a key power source in the Industrial Revolution Operating machinery Powering locomotives and steamships

Energy Revolution Coal is a vital source of fuel in production of IRON Iron: needed for construction of machines & steam engines Abraham Darby used coal instead of charcoal to smelt iron, or separate iron from its ore. Produced a less expensive and better-quality iron 1799 Abraham Darby III built the worlds first iron bridge, still standing today in Shropshire, England.
