Why Interactive Notebooks?  Becomes an active process of learning  Allows students time to reflect on what they have learned  Portfolio of the year  Personal record for each student  Records student growth  Interactive Notebooks Work  Student involvement

Keys to Successful Notebooks  The notebook should hold everything when possible.  A separate pocket folder may be used to hold handouts that are multi paged.  Cutting and gluing that day will be a key to organization.  Use the front page as an organization tool  Suggestion for Parents:  Check notebook often at the beginning of the year.  First two weeks I would check notebooks every day.  Allows students to get the routine down.  Check the teacher’s website often.

Interactive Notebook Grading Techniques  Teacher Notebook Check by a Rubric  Student Quiz  Parent Notebook Check  Daily Notebook Check

What do Students say about Interactive Notebooks?  “I wish all of my teachers used interactive notebooks. It keeps me organized and I know exactly what is expected and what we are doing that day.”  “They are easy to do and worth a lot of points.”  “Interactive Notebooks are worth as many points as a test. Keep and work on them everyday.”  “Don’t lose your notebook!”  “Notebooks are like scrapbooks for the year.”

Website  Purpose  Parent and student communication tool  List of daily assignments (In, Through, Out)  Can be used for notebook checks  Who’s keeping websites? All of us!!
